The Department of Biological Sciences has been reorganized into two new departments: the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology (EEMB), and the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB).
All majors formerly offered under the Department of Biological Sciences have been reassigned to the appropriate new departments, with the exception of biological sciences. This major, which offers students a choice of bachelor of arts or bachelor of science degree, is now cooperatively sponsored by both departments. The majors in aquatic biology, ecology and evolution, physiology, and zoology are now offered by the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Marine Biology. The majors in biochemistry-molecular biology, cell and developmental biology, microbiology, and pharmacology are now offered by the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. Please see the catalog entries under the new departments for additional information.
Courses previously designated as biology, zoology, or botany have been given new designations as EEMB or MCDB courses and many have also been assigned a new number. A course conversion chart is available in the department offices to assist students in locating courses previously offered within the Department of Biological Sciences.
